What a season for football in the Coorong!

The RMFL Grand Final showcased an exciting day for local football, beginning with Luke's Under 15.5s for Tailem Bend Football Club, who secured the premiership under his co-coaching, finishing the season undefeated with a final score of 6.8 (44) defeating Ramblers 5.2 (32).

Following this, the Coorong Cats celebrated their historic achievement as 2024 league premiers, marking the first-ever premiership for the Cats with a remarkable final score of 19-9 (123) defeating Mypolonga who scored 5-3 (33).

A special shout-out to Adam, who served as the Coorong Cats Football President. Well done, Adam, for your leadership and dedication, which has been crucial in guiding the team to this incredible milestone.

The atmosphere was electric as the community rallied together to support both teams during the finals.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the dedicated volunteers who made these events possible.

Ah, the majestic magpie: Australia’s feathered daredevil! While they may seem friendly at first, these birds can turn into swooping ninjas during nesting season. But don’t worry; with a few clever strategies, you can navigate the wild world of magpie swooping like a pro!

Stay Calm and Move Quickly
If a magpie decides to swoop, your best bet is to walk quickly (but don’t run) away from the area. Keep your cool, make eye contact, and stare it down until you’re out of sight. Trust us, they’re less likely to swoop if you’re giving them the side-eye.  If it starts acting aggressive, just stay calm; flailing your arms like a windmill will only make things worse!

Protect your Head! Whether it’s a wide-brimmed hat, a bike helmet, or even an empty ice cream container, don’t hesitate to wear anything that can shield you from those swooping strikes. You might feel a bit ridiculous, but your head will thank you!

Oska, a student from Murray Bridge High School, recently completed work experience with us focusing on sales and holiday rentals.

During his time with us, he gained hands-on experience in the workings of the sales process, learning about customer interactions, property listings, and the importance of providing excellent service in the holiday rental sector.

Oska's enthusiasm and willingness to learn allowed him to absorb essential skills that will serve him well in future endeavors.

Courtney is our new Property Solutions Manager who joined the team in July! In her role, she manages our rental properties and storage sheds, seamlessly fitting into Team Coorong.

Inspired by her Pop, Courtney's passion for gardening began when he brought her some basil and promised to help her build a veggie garden if she could keep it alive until his next visit.

Courtney’s favorite plant is Audrey, her very first plant bought when she moved home. While she doesn’t know what type of plant Audrey is, it symbolises her growth as a gardener; she figured that if she could keep Audrey alive, she could tackle anything.

Courtney also has four chickens—Petunia (the leader), Bellatrix, Deloris, and Narciss. They provide plenty of entertainment as they have a funny habit of flying out the coop and pecking at the backdoor for food.

Courtney's garden is thriving, filled with squash, garlic, various herbs, strawberries, pineberries, tomatoes, snow peas, honeysnap peas, passionfruit, multiple chilli varieties and even six citrus trees.

Looking ahead, she’s excited to expand her garden with flowers and sunflowers to attract bees and treat her chickens.

We’re thrilled to have Courtney on our team, and we can’t wait to see how she continues to grow in her role!
